What 1 Glass of Lemon Green Tea Every Morning Can Do For Your Liver, Kidneys, and Gut

I love lemon water in the morning. While we sleep we lose a percentage of our body’s water through the process of exhalation and sweating. When we wake up one of the most important things we can do for our bodies is hydrate!

Benefits of Lemon Water and Green Tea in the Morning

For me, nothing feels better than getting in the routine of hydrating with warm lemon water first thing in the morning. I always pour it into a big glass jar and just chug! Steeping the lemon and green tea together takes this refreshing elixir to another level. Green tea is packed with antioxidants and the lemon helps to support the liver, kidneys, and kickstart digestion. It tastes slightly tart from the lemons and fragrant from the green tea. I definitely recommend using organic green tea and lemons when you can.

This recipe isn’t sweetened (after all, it’s meant to be cleansing!) however if you prefer something a little sweet, add a drop of raw honey. Adding a pinch of cayenne pepper would also help rev up your metabolism and give you a little kick. *Pro tip: make sure you sip this tea AFTER you brush your teeth to protect your enamel!

Detox Tea – Green Tea and Lemon Water

Dairy-free, Gluten-free, Sugar-free, Vegan

Yield: Serves 1

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 organic green tea bags

  • 1 lemon

  • 1 1-litre mason jar

  • freshly boiled water

Detox Tea Green Tea and Lemon, benefits of lemon water

Instructions:

  1. Place tea bags in jar. Slice lemon and add to jar.

  2. Let boiled water sit for 5 minutes to cool slightly. Pour hot water into mason jar. Allow to steep for 10 minutes.

  3. Drink and enjoy, or pour over ice to enjoy it chilled.
