MRSA or Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus is a type of infection that has grown a resistance to antibiotic treatment, and thus in our world… is quite dangerous and quite common. It’s a result of our medical world turning to synthetic prescription drugs and antibiotics instead of turning to nature.
When we fight every bacteria and virus with antibiotics, these bacterium evolve as well, making them come back wiser and stronger the next time. When this happens, our bodies can’t fight them without a higher dose of antibiotics, and thus the cycle continues!
Recently, a recipe from over 1,000 years ago containing 3 ingredients was found to potentially hold the secret weapon against MRSA’s.
Scientists recreated the recipe, which contains garlic, onion and a portion of a cow’s stomach (I know it sounds gross, but if it’s the key to fighting MRSA, I;m on board). Throughout the studied these scientists were shocked to find that th mixture nearly wiped out MRSA bacterias.
The remedy recipe was originally found in Bald’s Leechbook, which is an old English manuscript and it was originally used as an eye-salve for eye infections and lacerations. The ingredients 1,000 years ago were garlic, onion, wine and cow’s bile.
The remedy was found to kill up to 90% of the MRSA bacteria and it is believed that it is the unique combination of ingredients that make it so effective.
In fact, the results were so astounding that they’ll be presented at a national microbiology conference.

- Equal amounts garlic and onion finely chopped and crushed to a smooth consistency.
- 25 ml English wine (from vineyard in Glastonbury)
- Dissolve bovine salts in distilled water
- Add ingredients together and keep chilled for 9 days at 4C
