Instead of taking pharmaceuticals to calm your anxiety, what about an organic drink that better regulates your entire body? Relax by Rawligion, a company based out of the UK, is an organic health beverage made out of hemp milk that claims to be both an anti-anxiety aid as well as nutritious.
The drink is the brainchild of Michael Isted, a psychotherapist and development consultant at Rawligion, and contains cashews, dates, coconut oil, vanilla, water and more importantly CBD oil. It’s said to taste like almond milk with a cannabis after taste, and is supposed to soothe anxiety, relieve pain, and also acts as a sleep aid.
The drink also contains cannabis seeds which contain omega-3, omega-6 fatty acids, calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, zinc, and vitamin A, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and vitamin D and E.
CBD is one of over 85 cannabinoids already identified in the cannabis plant and is the second most abundant cannabinoid in marijuana after THC. But CBD oil is made from hemp plants, which contain much more CBD cannabinoids than regular marijuana and contain significant levels of cannabidiol, essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, terpenes, flavonoids and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids.
You should note that CBD is non-psychotropic, which means it has no intoxicating properties. So consuming it won’t alter your consciousness or put you at unease.
CBD oil interacts with the body through the endogenous cannabinoid system as well as the endocannabinoid system.
The Endocannabinoid system
Discovered in the 1980’s the endocannabinoid system regulates the body’s homeostasis, that is the constant natural state of the body, and is made up of millions of cannabinoid receptor sites located throughout the brain and central nervous system that act in neural communication. This system is known to regulate sleep, mood, appetite, hormone regulation, pain and immune response.
CBD oil as a treatment
CBD oil is lauded for its life-changing properties. According to a 2013 review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, CBD possesses many beneficial qualities that result in a higher quality of life for people suffering from ongoing health concerns. It’s been known to help with reducing nausea and vomiting, suppressing seizure activity, combatting psychosis disorders, combatting inflammatory disorders, combatting neurodegenerative disorders, combatting tumor and cancer cells, fighting anxiety and depression disorders.
One study published in the Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology set out to prove the anti-anxiety effects of CBD oil using people with social anxiety disorders in relation to public speaking. They found that in comparison with a placebo group, certain measures such as blood pressure, heart rate, and skin conductance registered noticeably different. Those who were not treated with CBD oil registered much greater in cognitive impairment, discomfort and higher anxiety levels.
Another study done in the Journal of Psychopharmacol found that patients with social anxiety disorder who were administered CBD oil and then underwent neuroimaging were observed with noticeable differences. It was found that the decreased anxiety that patients report after CBD consumption is related to its effects on brain activity in the limbic and paralimbic areas.
So next time your anxiety levels has you feeling a little edgy, just relax and enjoy Rawligion Cannabis milk, it’s what it’s designed for. Not only is it nutritious and delicious but it will calm you down while regulating your body’s functions.
