The human body puts up with a lot, and typically lets us know when something’s up. A cough and a runny nose can be a warning that a cold is coming. A rash shows that you have an allergy. Sometimes some disorders sneak up on us without warning.
Diabetes is not typically one of these things. We know “what leads” to type 2 diabetes, but it’s not all set in stone. There’s more to contracting diabetes than a high-sugar, high-fat diet and a low-exercise lifestyle. Although if you’re diagnosed with prediabetes, changing your lifestyle can push back against the disease.
Increase Insulin Acceptance and Lower Blood Pressure
Type 2 diabetes is essentially your body being insulin resistant. Insulin is produced by your pancreas to let cells use carbs and sugars as energy. Having a slow metabolism, burning fat slowly, and having high blood pressure can lead to an unhealthy immune system which could advance the onset of type 2 diabetes.
There’s a simple two-ingredient drink that not only helps cleanse your body of toxins, but speed up metabolism, burn fat and lower blood pressure. It also helps directly fight diabetes.
How? Apple cider vinegar and cinnamon.
You Don’t Make Money With Vinegar
Taking apple cider vinegar (ACV) has been found to help both type 1 and type 2 diabetics with blood glucose control. A 2004 study found that vinegar helps increase insulin sensitivity. The study followed subjects who drank 40 grams of ACV before meals; their post-meal glucose levels were 34% lower compared to when they didn’t drink the vinegar.
Why isn’t vinegar a more widely known diabetes treatment? Because no one makes big money from selling vinegar. There are no vinegar pushers. No vinegar reps. Vinegar doesn’t make anyone enough money to even be widely talked-about in the diabetes community.
A few years ago, however, cinnamon was all the rage in the diabetes community. This is because cinnamon was found to increase the use of glucose in the body, and decrease risk factors associated with diabetes.
Cinnamon will also help fight various cardiovascular diseases by lowering bad cholesterols. Cinnamon extracts have been found to increase glucose uptake and glycogen (a glucose storage system made in the liver) synthesis. Because of what cinnamon and apple cider vinegar can do on their own, some people have decided to put them together in one glass.
The Diabetes Detox Drink
This drink won’t cure you of diabetes, but it will help your body become more accepting of insulin, helping to stabilize your blood sugars. It will also help with heart health and help to lower high blood pressure. If take before a meal this concoction will speed up metabolism, burn extra fat, and make your body more insulin receptive.
Now, it’s not quite two-ingredients, but you know the two important ingredients and the reasons that they’re important.
-1 teaspoon Cinnamon
-2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
-2 tablespoons Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
-1 tablespoon Raw Honey
-One glass (12-16 oz) Water
Instructions: Mix in a blender and consume on the same day.
Drink before meals, and you won’t feel bogged down by sugar after eating.
