Strawberries contain some amazing ingredients, which are highly beneficial for the skin. Among the most important ingredients, there are vitamins (A, C and K), folic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, and folate. Strawberries are also rich in antioxidants, especially in flavonoids and salicylic acid, hence the benefits with regard to skin care. So, given all of these properties, you do not have to ask yourself how to get rid of acne anymore. You can simply try a face mask that contains strawberries, among other ingredients.

One of the biggest benefits of strawberries is related to their rich content of antioxidants. The flavonoids will work to slow down the aging process, preventing the damage from free radicals at the same time. Apart from this, strawberries can help you fight a dull complexion due to their high content in ellagic acid. You can use strawberries to help make skin spots and scars less visible.

Strawberries can be used to deal with acne and oily skin. This is because they have an acidic nature, which makes them efficient in reducing the excess sebum production at the level of the skin. You can also use strawberries to exfoliate your skin, darken your lips and whiten your teeth. As you can see, there are countless beauty benefits to take into consideration, making strawberries worthy additions to homemade facial masks.

DIY Face Mask Recipes with the Benefits of Strawberries

The greatest thing about these facial masks is that they can be used for different purposes, including moisturizing, exfoliating or tightening the skin. You can add ingredients to enrich the properties of the strawberry-based facial mask.

#1 Moisturizing & Brightening facial mask

This facial mask does not take more than a couple of minutes to make, not to mention it can be used on a daily basis. These are the ingredients you will require for six applications:

  • 3 large strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey

Make sure that the strawberries are ripe and juicy so that you can benefit the most from their rich properties. Also, raw honey is the best choice for this facial mask.

To make the mask, mash the strawberries into a pulp, then add the yogurt and the honey, making sure that all of the ingredients are evenly combined. Apply the resulting mixture on the face, maintaining the application for 15 minutes. When done, rinse it off with lukewarm water. Pour the rest of the mask into an airtight container; you can keep it in the fridge for about a week. It is best applied cold.

#2 Exfoliating facial mask

With summer just around the corner, it is only normal you should be on the lookout for an exfoliating facial mask. These are the ingredients you will require for about five applications:

  • 3 large strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of uncooked oats

Both honey and olive oil are excellent moisturizers, while oatmeal is well known for its exfoliating properties.

The easiest way to make this facial mask is with the help of a blender or food processor. Mix all of the ingredients, until they are evenly combined. Apply the resulting mixture on your face, maintaining the application for 10 to 15 minutes. When done, rinse it off with lukewarm water. The rest of the mask can be poured into a jar and stored in the fridge for several days (up to one week).

#3 Skin tightening facial mask

This facial mask can help you achieve your skin tightening goals. These are the ingredients you will require for about five to six applications:

  • 3 large strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of cream
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey

Both the lemon juice and strawberries have skin tightening properties, while the cream and honey offer added protection for the skin.

As a first step, mash the ripe strawberries into a pulp. Then, combine the strawberry pulp with the lemon juice. Add the cream and honey, mixing all of the ingredients until they are evenly combined. Apply the resulting mixture on the face and maintain the application for a quarter of an hour. Pour the remaining mask into a jar or other container; it can be stored in the fridge for several days (one-week maximum).

These are just three of many facial masks that can be prepared with strawberries as the star ingredients. Do not hesitate to give all of them a try to see which one is most beneficial for your own skin.
