Your teeth have a much larger impact on your overall health then you might think. While eating the right foods is important, if you are consuming your meals with unclean teeth you could do your body more harm than good.
As your rest and throughout the day your teeth become covered in a sticky biofilm known as plaque. Plaque is made up of a thin grouping of bacteria that clings to the surface of the gums and teeth. Plaque bacteria thrives on diets that consist of high amounts of sugars and starches which allows them to release enamel eroding acids which result in tooth decay.

What You Will Need.
- 5 parts Calcium powder
- 1 part Diatomaceous Earth (optional- contains trace minerals and silica. UPDATE: A reader noted that DE can be abrasive and is not needed with the baking soda, so if you don’t have DE… no worries!)
- 2 parts Baking Soda
- 3 parts Xylitol Powder- This ingredient is not completely necessary, but just keeps it from tasting bitter.
- 3-5 parts coconut oil to get desired texture
- Optional ingredients: Essential oils for flavor (mint, cinnamon, and orange are all good), Myrrh and Trace Minerals
First, grab a large mixing bowl for combining all the dry ingredients. Slowly begin to mix all powdered ingredients (calcium, Baking Soda, Xylitol) together making sure to blend away all clumps. If you are using calcium tablets make sure to powder them in a food processor before adding them into the dry mix.
Next add coconut oil into the mixture, make sure to add it in one part at a time until you get the desired constancy. This method will help you avoid making a mistake in the recipe. After you have reached your desired constancy, begin to add in your optional ingredients for flavor. Again, it is best to add these ingredients to the mixture one part at a time as to avoid mistakes.
Let this solution sit for a few minutes, then place the toothpaste in a small container or glass jar for storage.
To use, simply dip a clean toothbrush into the mixture, or use a popsicle stick to apply the paste to the toothbrush. This all natural homemade will have our teeth brighter and breath fresher than ever before.
