Even though it is normal to have them cycle through our bodies, it is important to cleanse ourselves of parasites at least once a year. If not, the parasites will grow, multiply, and may infect systems in your body. What systems?


Well, parasites aren’t picky. Sure certain parasites will stick to certain parts of the body: loa loa (the African Eye Worm) lives under the skin and appears in the white parts of your eye; tapeworms like to create blockages in your intestines; and Naegleria fowleri swims up through your nose and works on destroying your brain.

1. Weight Loss

Tapeworms and pinworms can live in the human digestive system. If you have one, you may have constant feelings of hunger because these parasites feed off of the food passing through your body. Because you’re not the one benefitting from the food, you can experience noticeable weight loss.

2. Fatigue

This sign comes hand in hand with the one above. Because parasites – not you – are feeding off of all your food, they leave your body with nothing to convert into energy. This leads to feelings of weakness and low energy. Intestinal worms also produce toxins that can make it difficult for your organs to detoxify and get rid of waste, which can cause you to feel sluggish. So if you think you’re eating pretty well and getting a sufficient amount of sleep, you may have a parasite.

3. Anemia

As parasites continue to feed off of you and deplete your food of nutrients, you can very quickly become iron deficienct. If you feel fatiguged, weak, or have shortness of breath, headaches, cold hands and feet or brittle nails (all symptoms of anemia), you should consider seeing your doctor.

4. Skin Problems

6 Remedies for Getting Rid of Parasites in Your Body


A centuries-old cure for intestinal parasites, wormwood can be consumed in liquid extract, in capsule form, or as a tea. It increases the acidity of the stomach and encourages the production of bile.

WARNING: Pure wormwood oil is toxic – do not ingest.


Garlic is a great natural parasite killer, because you’ve already got some in your kitchen. Fresh garlic is excellent for tapeworms and roundworms (the most common parasite in humans.

Crush one clove, let sit for 10 minutes and consume before bed for at least a month.

Oil of oregano

Add 2-3 drops to a glass of water with fresh lemon juice. You can do this remedy up to three times a day.

Extra virgin coconut oil

Coconut oil has a ton of uses, from cleaning your teeth to cleaning your gut. It provides your immune system with a boost that helps your body fight against parasites, as well as being a strong antifungal agent.

Ingest six tablespoons of coconut oil a day.

Black walnut tincture

Traditionally used for ringworm and fungal infections, black walnut helps kill parasites at the adult stage. But if used in combination with wormwood and common cloves, you’ll be able to kill parasites at all stages, ridding the body completely.

Pumpkin seeds

According to Cathy Wong in Natural Remedies for Intestinal Parasites, herbalists recommend grinding 25 ounces of the seed and combining it with fresh juice. Consume immediately. Two to three hours later, a laxative is taken to sweep the intestines.”

Another way to keep your intestines clear of parasites is to eat a high fiber diet. Even better, add psyllium husk, flaxseed, chia seed and beetroot. Vitamin C and zinc are important for parasite control as well, so freshly squeezed juice is a great idea.
