Elisha of My Health Maven shared this awesome recipe with me a couple days ago before it was even on her blog and I just had to give it a try.

Making delicious fruit smoothies has become my go-to breakfast because they’re so easy to make and are loaded with all the nutrients I need. So I was very excited to give this recipe a try because it had so many protein-packed foods and the great tasting combination of chocolate and almonds.

The chocolate flavor comes from cacao, which is a great ingredient because it’s the purest form of chocolate and is full of beneficial nutrients. Not only can it improve your memory, reduce heart disease, and help shed fat, but this guilt-free powder will boost your immunity because of its antioxidant properties.

The abundance of protein in this drink will keep your belly full and flat. Almonds and quinoa are two really great sources of it, while a whopping 25% of the calories in hemp are pure protein. Another bonus? Dates are a natural and delicious alternative to sweeteners, so you don’t have to worry about it tasting tart.

Can you eat chocolate on the Keto diet? Good news!

Though this makes a perfect breakfast, it doubles as a frosty treat for any time of the day! Since it contains dates and quinoa, it’s really thick and can even be eaten with a spoon. If you’re like me and prefer thicker smoothies, you can chill it for a while before enjoying it – the longer it sits in the fridge, the more thick it will get!

In no time, you can whip one up for yourself!

Protein-Packed Almond Smoothie Recipe

  • 2 cups  homemade almond milk
  • 1/4 cup cooked quinoa
  • 4 tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 4 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1/2 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen!)
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder

Put all ingredients into a high-speed blender, blend until smooth, and pour!

Tip: If you’re left with an extra bit of the mixture, pop it in fridge because it will thicken to a delicious mousse in no time!
