Every day we are bombarded with ads about losing weight and various diets which promise to help us get rid of fat and be healthier. The dieting business is a multi-million dollar industry which is in fact growing as it takes advantage of an increasing worldwide obese population.
While most people understand the basis of a healthy diet, sometimes people struggle to stick to it and find themselves wavering off as they get tempted by convenience foods and treats that are difficult to avoid. A balanced diet is so important on many levels. It will provide you with the nutrients your body needs to function well and it will also help to ensure you have healthy teeth, skin and bones.
Watching what you eat can be extra difficult if you intake a lot of convenience foods. These can be laden down with hidden salt and sugar which you won’t know about without reading the ingredients label. Foods that are perceived as healthy such as breakfast cereals for example, can often have a high level of sugar. While you shouldn’t cut sugar out of your diet completely (everyone deserves some treat!), you should try to keep it in moderation.

Instead why not try to alter your habits in order to reduce the dependence on sugar. If, for example, you always put two spoons of sugar in your tea or coffee, why not try reducing it to one and slowly remove it altogether. A lot of the time, these ‘tastes’ are brought on simply by habit.
