Get your daily dose of ACV in these bite-sized apple cider vinegar gummies!
Admittedly, apple cider vinegar is not the most pleasant of drinks to consume, but the health benefits are so valuable that it’s hard to ignore. So, how do we reap the apple cider vinegar benefits without cringing everytime we swallow? We turn it into a gummy of course.
This fun apple cider vinegar gummy recipe is convenient, easy to transport, and, with only 4 ingredients, it’s something that even less-experienced cooks can master. One of the key ingredients is grass-fed gelatin, so in addition to receiving all of the health benefits of ACV, you’re also harnessing the healing power of gelatin.
The Health Benefits of Grass-Fed Gelatin You May Not Have Known About
If you’re reading this, you likely already know about the health benefits of ACV. But what about the other key ingredient in this recipe, gelatin? Gelatin is much more than just the sticky ingredient in Jell-O. Technically speaking, gelatin is derived from collagen, which is an important protein found in animals. By consuming gelatin, we are provided with important amino acids, which are the “building blocks” of protein.
Gelatin is a powerhouse when it comes to healing our bodies. It’s responsible for improving gut health, soothing digestion, as well as healing and strengthening our bones.
Improves Gut Health and Digestion
Gelatin is beneficial in preventing intestinal damage and improving the lining of the digestive tract, which can help to prevent leaky gut syndrome. It can also improve your ability to produce gastric acid secretions that are needed for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients. So, gelatin plays a huge role when it comes to the health of our gut, which explains why Jell-O is often served to patients at hospitals.
Protects Joints and Lowers Joint Pain
Anyone suffering from arthritis will know that gelatin helps to ease symptoms of both osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. This is because gelatin and collagen help to stall chronic inflammatory responses within the body, which reduces pain and stops progressive disease.
Improves Sleep Quality
If you find that you have difficulty sleeping then gelatin could be a good solution for you. One study shows that when participants ingested 3 grams of gelatin prior to going to bed their ability to sleep was greatly improved.
Improves Cognitive Ability & Lifts Mood
Glycine, which is in gelatin, is an amino acid that is considered to be an “inhibitory neurotransmitter”, meaning it acts similarly to anti-anxiety or antidepressant medication, but without the side effects.
Improves Skin Health
Gelatin will help to keep your skin looking younger, longer by renewing skin cells and blocking UV light damage. Not only does gelatin keep your skin looking fabulous, but it also protects you from free radical damage, wrinkles, and potentially skin cancer.
Maintains Strong Bones
Our bones require a lot of nutrients in order to keep them functioning properly. Gelatin’s benefits are two fold in this respect. First, gelatin contains many essential nutrients, like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, and sulfur, which are all necessary for keeping our bones strong and preventing damage. Second, gelatin is approximately 85% protein by weight and contains important amino acids for proper collagen production . Collagen is very important for the integrity of our bones and represents over 30% its mass !
