It was in the 1970s that the CIA in collaboration with the Stanford Research Institute (SRI International) launched their classified program aimed at studying psychic phenomena, including remote viewing. Using only their minds, this practice purportedly allowed individuals to visualize distant objects, people, or events.

Joe McMoneagle became one of the prominent figures in the initiative, eventually earning the nickname “Remote Viewer No. 1.” Remaining confidential for years, McMoneagle has revealed the program’s specifics and in the process shed light on his extraordinary experiences during his time in the CIA.

McMoneagle was given coordinates to focus on as part of the remote viewing experiments without prior context. He utilized his psychic abilities to study these locations. In doing so, he described seeing massive pyramid-like structures on Mars. He called this housing monster rooms.” He also mentioned seeing tall beings which he suggests may have been inhabitants.

“I started getting an image of human beings that were trapped in a place where the atmosphere was turning bad,” McMoneagle recalled. He explained that these beings appeared to be twice the size of humans and seemed to be on the brink of extinction due to a failing atmosphere. “It [was] obvious these people were dying for some reason, but they were humans,” he said.

The former CIA remote viewer initially assumed he was viewing Earth, but once he noticed the target’s label, his entire perspective changed. Labeled “Mars. One million BC,” this revelation left him frustrated, as it cast doubt on his visions’ validity. “I hate doing a target where I cannot prove ground truth because then I don’t know if it’s real or I’m inventing it,” he admitted. Skepticism aside, McMoneagle’s visions offered an intriguing glimpse into a possible ancient civilization on Mars.

McMoneagle, based on his observations has speculated that Mars’ atmosphere may have been stripped away by some sort of catastrophic event. He suggested that it may have been something that passed through the solar system that in turn, disrupted the planet’s natural environment, forcing inhabitants to seek refuge in these giant pyramid-like structures.

Corroborating Visions with Photographic Evidence

McMoneagle requested contemporary images of the coordinates he had observed after his initial remote viewing session. He astonoshingly claimed to have discovered photographic evidence that backed his claims. Nearing the edge of a giant impact crater on Mars, the images revealed a pyramid-shaped structure. “If it was there [before], it would have been blown away,” he argued, suggesting that the buildings he saw in his vision may have been manmade, specifically by the life on Mars he saw in his vision.

A Controversial Legacy
