‘Fit and Healthy’ Man Claims ‘Life Barely Worth Living’ After Covid Booster 

At 54 years of age, Larry Lowe was fit and healthy, never got sick, and ran around 10 kilometers every day. However, all of that changed when he got the Pfizer Covid booster on the 15th of December, 2021. After just a few days of receiving the booster, the right side of his face became numb and he began to experience significant pain.

“I had lost all the feeling in my face, teeth, nose, tongue, eye, that whole side of my head,” Larry said. These symptoms spread throughout Larry’s body and worsened over time, with specialists throughout the UK blaming the booster shot. Pfizer’s comment on the matter was that patient safety was paramount to them and they took any reports of negative side effects very seriously. [1] The company further stated that hundreds of millions of shots have been delivered worldwide and that its benefit-risk profile remained positive for all approved indications and age ranges. While Larry states that he is not typically opposed to vaccines, this particular one ended up destroying his life. 

The Public Health Agency’s Stance on the Covid booster

According to Northern Ireland’s Public Health Agency, the vaccinations’ advantages in avoiding COVID-19 and its harmful effects exceeded any now-known negative effects in the majority of individuals who had taken it. [2] Larry was directed to Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. There he was advised that the shot was interpreted by his body as a toxin, which was the cause of his health issues. He suddenly just broke down and began to cry.

“My wife and I were sitting in this little room in Westminster with consultants telling me the vaccine had destroyed the nerve on the right side of my face, and it was highly unlikely that I would ever recover from it,” Larry said sadly. In their letters on the issue, London physicians acknowledged that the development of symptoms was due to the booster shot. Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust verified that their multidisciplinary team agreed that the starting point of symptoms could be traced to the booster.

The Diagnosis

Larry was diagnosed in April 2024 by a specialist neurologist at the Southern Health Trust with an excruciating trigeminal neuropathy, with the COVID-19 vaccination cited as the major cause. He additionally developed small fiber sensory neuropathy, which the doctor cited as also being one of the post-vaccine-related neurological presentations. What’s even more worrying is that his symptoms are getting worse as time goes by. Larry stated that the last three years have been extremely rough and he struggles to think what the next 10 years will be like. 

Larry’s Symptoms

Larry shared that small fiber neuropathy has impacted his whole body, from his toes all the way to his fingertips. He also experiences dry eye syndrome and must wear sunglasses due to his heightened sensitivity to light. Describing the constant discomfort, Larry said that it feels like a clamp is squeezing both sides of his head. According to his doctors, his condition is progressive and will continue to worsen over time. He expressed his utter frustration at the situation, saying he never asked for this and feels abandoned after having taken the vaccine in good faith. 

Unbearable Pain

It has got so bad that Larry has stated that life is barely worth living anymore. He used to play in a rock band, singing and playing guitar as well as writing and recording albums. Now he doesn’t even feel like the same person anymore and it all feels like a distant memory. The chronic pain grew so bad that he even had to retire from his career as a college professor. While he was never opposed to vaccines, he does feel that he needs to help in taking out the stigma of vaccine injuries. This is because many people don’t take it very seriously.

He emphasizes that vaccines have been crucial in helping society recover from the years-long pandemic. He went on to say that once vaccines were introduced, the death rate significantly decreased. [3] However, he also acknowledged that all vaccines carry some risk of negative side effects. Additionally, with large-scale vaccinations, a few reactions are expected in the general population. Although he couldn’t speak about individual cases, he stressed that reactions like Larry’s are actually extremely rare.

Running Out of Options

Larry says that he has tried all the available medications and treatments in the UK, but none have been effective so far. He really needs proper medical and psychological help and above all, wants acknowledgment that the vaccine caused his condition. His wife, Gini, described how difficult life has become. She said they once had a fantastic, normal life, but now it has all been turned upside down. She went on to say that Larry often cries and screams at night due to the pain.”We have lost part of Larry, and that’s hard to accept”, she said despondently.
