We all get the urge to change up our appearance from time to time. As humans, we tend to spend a lot of time thinking about how we look, so it’s no surprise that many of us enjoy experimenting with new styles now and then.
For most of us, a bold new outfit or a fresh haircut after years of the same style is enough to feel refreshed. A new look can revitalize us, bringing a renewed sense of energy just when we need it. However, few people undergo as dramatic a transformation as Rosa Ramirez, a young woman from the U.S., who changed her hairstyle after 25 years of keeping it the same.
Rosa’s story first made headlines back in 2015, but her transformation is still just as striking today for those who missed it then.
It was said that Rosa’s hair was so long she could step on it. Over the years, her husband had encouraged her to consider a cut, but Rosa hesitated, having embraced the same look for 25 years.
Somewhat incredibly, Rosa’s hair measured 1.5 meters by the time she eventually decided to go and get it cut. The reason? So that she could send a whopping 4-feet of hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit that manufactures wigs for kids who have lost their hair to cancer.
“I think it would make somebody’s day who’s suffering from a bad disease, it will make their day a little brighter,” Rosa said.
Needless to say, Rosa’s transformation was really quite something to see. My wife says I become a new person when I cut my hair having let it grow out for three months, let alone 25 years!
