Woman Found Deceased and Half-Eaten By Pet Pugs

Police recently broke into a Romanian woman’s home after she had not been heard from for nearly a week. Upon entering the apartment in Bucharest, emergency services discovered the body of 34-year-old Adriana Naegoe. Horrifically, her body was discovered half-eaten by her pet pugs. Police could find no signs of violence and have yet to confirm her cause of death.

Many people have shared their condolences and tributes to Anda on social media. Her sister, Maria Alexandra, said on Facebook: “Another angel has gone to heaven. My beautiful sister Anda Sasha is no longer among us.” Social media was full of words expressing grief, sorrow, and contemplation, such as those from someone named Roby, who wrote: “What is this life, today you are and tomorrow you are not. What a pity for her youth. May God rest her soul in peace.”

Because of the way her body was positioned, there were signs of cadaveric lividity. Also called livor mortis, this term describes the pooling of blood that occurs in the lower part of the body after someone dies lying in that position. This pooling of blood leads to skin discoloration that ranges from pink to dark purple. The actual cause of her death remains a mystery of now and the police are still actively engaged in the investigation. The pugs were taken by the local council and placed in a shelter in accordance with an order from the police.

Not The First Time This Has Occurred

While we may find this story rather surprising and disturbing, this is hardly the first time this kind of thing has occurred. In fact, in 2023, Argentinian police officers found the body of a 59-year-old man who had been partially eaten by his cats. The man suffered from serious heart problems and lived alone. The man, Marcelo Bonifacio, had not been seen by any of his neighbors for a couple of weeks. A few of his neighbors eventually went to pay him a visit. There, they were met with a rotten smell, after which they contacted emergency services. In 2022, a Russian woman was found half-eaten in her apartment in Bataysk, Rostov region, Russia. Police found 20 cats living in the apartment along with the deceased.

More Common Than You Think

A similar thing happened in Australia, where police found around 30 cats living with the body of a 69-year-old man. He had died a few weeks previously and the cats had eaten his face, lungs, and heart. A forensic anthropologist at University College London, Carolyn Rando, has stated quite frankly: “I think we have to come to the conclusion that our pets will eat us, it’s just a fact.” This often presents problems for investigators as the examination of certain organs is often vital in determining why someone passed away.

The Bottom Line

After reading this article, you may be side-eyeing your cat or your pugs sitting on the couch next to you. However, don’t be too afraid – there isn’t a great chance that either your kitties or pups are currently planning your demise. Yet, as these stories have revealed, under certain circumstances, they won’t have much of an issue viewing you as the meal being served, instead of the person simply serving it.
