5. Argentina
Argentina is located in South America, away from global power centers. It produces large amounts of food, including meat and grain. The country is self-reliant in energy and agriculture. It has few international enemies and remains mostly neutral. The Andes Mountains provide a natural barrier to invasion. Southern Argentina is especially remote and difficult to reach. If World War III affects the Northern Hemisphere, Argentina could avoid the worst of the destruction.
