Another Site in Gradina Bay
The story doesn’t end at Soline. On the other side of Korčula, in Gradina Bay, researchers found another submerged site. This one also held Neolithic tools, like flint blades, stone axes, and millstone fragments.

These finds point to a second Hvar culture settlement and strengthens the idea that this region was a busy hub for early sea travel and trade. The people here weren’t isolated, and built connections across the Adriatic.
Artifacts from both Soline and Gradina Bay show a society skilled in farming, tool-making, and seafaring. These weren’t primitive people. Instead, they had systems and skills that served them well. “We’re seeing how advanced and connected these ancient communities really were,” one archaeologist said.
